In the previous round, Chelsea won their first official victory under coach Mauricio Pochettino after defeating Luton Town at Stamford Bridge. Even though Luton Town is considered the weakest team in the Premier League this season, Chelsea's performance is still highly appreciated. The reason is because the Blues played well in previous matches even when they did not win.
Raheem Sterling is living proof of Chelsea's progress. The English striker played aggressively and became the most dangerous spearhead of the Blues attack. After the first two matches were somewhat unlucky, Sterling shined brightly with a double goal and an assist against Luton Town. Likewise, Nicolas Jackson also scored his first goal for Chelsea and promises to continue to explode.
Chelsea's biggest problem in the early part of the season is that the midfield has been completely resolved with "blockbuster" Caicedo and young talent Lavia. Conor Gallagher's stay gives the Blues even more power to control the match against any team.
After spending more than 1 billion pounds in the past year, Chelsea has basically built a squad that is both strong and rich in depth. In each position, they always have 2 trustworthy options. Therefore, even though the injury storm has not passed, the Blues still have enough personnel to help coach Mauricio Pochettino show his talent.
In the opposite direction, Nottingham also used to shop tirelessly like Chelsea - but at a lower level and built a framework... racing for relegation. The difference in class and ambition between the two teams is very clear. In the previous round, Nottingham lost 2-3 to MU despite leading 2-0 after only the first 4 minutes. With limitations in both strength and bravery, it is difficult for them to create a surprise at Stamford Bridge.
